I cannot update the password on my email on my iPad.

I had to change my email password due to receiving a message to say suspect activity had taken place. I did this in June on my iPhone. I have neglected to update the password on my iPad and now it seems that I cannot do it. To begin with it came up with a message to say password authentication was not available. Upon searching for solutions to this I found it best to delete the email account from my iPad turn it off and then add the account again. I tried this but it’s still not letting me verify the password. Please help

Has you email provider switched to using App Specific Passwords? If so, you will need to generate a unique password for your iPad email account - that will differ from your normal Account Password. As examples - AOL, Yahoo, Google, Microsoft all use App Specific Passwords when using anything other than their own email client Apps.


If you need to generate an App Specific Password, you’ll need to log-in to your Mail Providers account management webpage - using a web browser - and generate the Password from the appropriate account security page.
