IOS 15.6.1 Messed up my layout

I have an 8th Gen iPad, and I decided to update so it would stop notifying me about it. However, in doing so, it changed my entire layout, so there is now an inch sized margin between my apps and the edge of the screen when in portrait mode. When I rotate it, it maintains that edge (which is the normal distance for landscape) but also moves all my apps around in a different grid layout. Does anybody know how to fix this? It's never done this before when updating.

iPadOS15 allows you to have your screen arranged differently in Portrait and Landscape screen orientation - accommodating Widgets that can now be freely placed within the icon grid arrangement.

Simply arrange the Widgets, Apps and App folder icons on your Home screen - then rotate the screen from Landscape to Portrait (or Portrait to Landscape) and again arrange the icons how you would like them. Once arranged in each orientation, they will always appear in your preferred arrangement for each orientation.
