Spontaneous logout / reboot - WindowServer problem

Dear Mac community,

I'm writing you since I couldn't find a solution for my problem...

After I updated my iMac, it started to reboot and logout itself randomly several times a day.

When it crashed i had open the following programs:

  • VMware Horizont Client Version 2206 - Build 8.6.0 (20094589)
  • Microsoft Teams Version 1.5.00.22362
  • Webex Version 42.8.0.23281
  • Chrome 105.0.5195.52 (Official Build) (x86_64)

In one of the reports (attached) was mentioned "Teams" so i uninstall it (drag and drop to the bin) and after doing that i erase some extra folders (i followed this instructions: LINK).

At the beginning it looked like that fix the problem but unfortunately today crashed again.

So i'm happy to hear/try any other suggestion!

Any tips beside doing a fresh reinstall of the iOS??

thx in advance!

Andres

Update:

I still had the reboot/logout problem after doing all P. Phillips' and etresoft's advices.

I create also a new User to test if that could fix the problem - it didn't work either.

After checking page 2 and 3 of Google results - yes I'm that desperate! ;) - I found this post: LINK and I remembered that not long ago i enable File sharing with another Mac connected in the same Wifi.

After doing what it was advised my Mac was working without any issues for a few days.

Unfortunately yesterday it crashed/reboot again (only one time). Before disabling the File Sharing option my Mac was rebooting/logging out 5-10 times x day.

Do you have any other advised that is not reinstall Monterey?

As i mention before this Mac is from my office and i work remotely with a virtual pc (WMware Horizon Client) so there is no need to backup the Mac.

Q - Apps with heavy CPU usage - There have been numerous cases of apps with heavy CPU usage. Clean up - There are orphan files that could be removed.

I went through the EtreCheck list again and I uninstall/clean all the apps that i could.

How can i check/uninstall which Apps are x86-only? is there a command that i can enter in the terminal to have a list of those apps?

I agree 100% with you but I wont be able to upgrade that.. This Mac doesn't belong to me...

Am not too good at Reading the supplied reports but an alternative --->

Understand, we are all working Remotely from all around the world.

Therefore, we do not have the On-Hands experience the User ( you ) has with this computer.

The next best thing for us to having a semi - actual On-Hand experience  with this computer is to follow the steps below

Download the Application Etrecheck directly from the Developer.

The application is free or paid from added features.

It will take a Snap Shot -  both the hardware and software.

The Report will Not Reveal Any Personal Information.

Post back the Full Report - copy and paste - using the Additional Text Icon ( 3rd Icon to last )

We can have a look at the report for possible issues and may have possible suggestions to resolve the issues.

Good catch where is that showing - interested 😀

In one of the panic reports, it lists "com.apple.iokit.IOSurface" under "Kernel Extensions in backtrace".

Then, under the last started and last stopped kexts section, it lists "driverkit" and "AFIVRDriver", which appears to be related to audio extensions based on a quick search.

And then "com.shinywhitebox.iShowU-Audio-Capture" is listed as a 3rd party kernel extension.

I'm not sure what happened to that EtreCheck report. It looks like they may have tried to print to PDF and then copy the text out of the PDF.

Good and if you are satisfied but notice and New Installation PowerMyMac .

This application is akin to CleanMyMac. You may consider removing it.

Certain Applications maybe available on the Apple Apps Store - this only means the Developer is prepared to pay Apple a portion on each sale. What the Application may do to the computer is up to the User to check this out before purchase

Any of the below should be removed as per Developers Instructions

This will include CleanMyMac and  MacKeeper

Would suggest reading the posting on either or both of the above and arrive at your own conclusion

I will uninstall it, if there is no other way... but maybe somebody else have another solution...

It's just a test. There is no other way to test these things. Remove the software most likely to cause the problem. (And don't install any additional, similar software.) If the problem continues, then it is something else, likely hardware. If the problem never returns, then you've probably solved it. But if this software is required, then you may have to simply live with the crashes.

You are right.. that is the only way you can really discard the source of the problem.

In the meanwhile, I uninstall the iShowU app, the F-Secure antivirus and went through the "problems" that were listed in the EtreCheck report. I think, I "repair"/eliminate most of them.

Anyway thanks a lot for all your inputs!

I will keep you posted if the problem persist. So far it is working normally..

Attached you will find the new EtreCheck report after cleaning my Mac.
