iPad charging port will not accept charger tip

My charger tip will not go inside iPad port and there is no lint obstructing it.

I’m not sure if this means you are using what was shipped with this iPad, or maybe are using what was used with a previous iPad or iPhone.

If the cable and charger that ships with the iPad is not working, then either the cable has failed, maybe debris*, or the iPad socket has failed. The cable is cheaper, and replacing that is the usual test. If a different cable also fails, then the iPad itself probably needs a repair. If so, use the Get Support link in the upper right of this webpage, and discuss your options and alternatives with Apple.

*If the cable you are using is USB-C and not Lightning, unplug it at both ends, and look for debris in the end of the USB-C cable, too.

In general…

Apple uses two connectors with iPad, Lightning, and USB-C.

The following have USB-C:

  • iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation or later)
  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation or later)
  • iPad Air (4th generation or later)
  • iPad mini (6th generation)

Other and older gear uses Lightning.

This cable has a Lightning connector, and a USB-C connector: About the Apple USB-C to Lightning Cable - Apple Support

If you’re using another charger and another cable, Apple ships the appropriate charger and cable with each iPad. Does that other charger and cable fit and work here?
