How do I turn on iCloud photos?

Does the status say paused? Synced, etc.

No, doesn't say anything like that. Attaching 3 screenshots:

Get Info window from Pictures folder on iCloud drive:


I don't understand this. There are over 14,000 files in the Pictures folder in iCloud, but only 8600 in my Mac Photos and my iPhone Photos. AAARGGGHHH! Can you help me make sense of this, and how to fix it so I can see all my photos on my Mac and my iPhone?

Ah. That helps.


You have 8,600 pictures. That's it. The cloud, your Mac, and your phone are synced.

If you have additional picture in your pictures folder, that's fine. The pictures folder does not sync, your photo library on your Mac syncs. If you have more photos in the folder, drag those into Photos on the Mac to sync.
