Command + tap-to-click still not working properly on 2021 M1 Macbook Pro

I created this topic since we can't add any comments to the original one anymore. CMD+Tap-to-click still not working properly almost a year after. On a brand new MacBook Pro M1 just out of the box. This makes me regrettes my 2018 Inter MBP.

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 13.0

Sorry I was talking about this topic : Command + tap-to-click not working proper… - Apple Community

I have a 2018 Intel MBP since a while and even before an older MBP. I'm used to CMD+Click (touch click with the trackpad) or even CTRL + click on Windows to open any link to another tab when using Safari or any other web browser, never had an issue this since yesterday when I switched to a brand new MBP14. This CMD+click won't work properly and will only if you press CMD for at least 1sec before clicking. I searched the web and this topic exist since the releasing of MBP14 and is not yet fixed. This is very annoying.

Yes I know, I've red the previous topic and someone had his mbp replaced but stil had the same issue.

I guess I could have been more elaborate. Since there seems to be no solution, I personally wouldn't keep a Mac that doesn't work correctly. Will Apple ever fix that on those particular Macs? What else is wrong with the TrackPad implementation?

Have you contacted AppleCare?

I do have the same issue - amongst some more unusual problems.

Thus said - my MB Pro 2021 (Nov) was replaced 2 weeks ago by a new one. But some of the problems are back again.

Did update to MacOS 12.6 today - trackpad issue as described above returned back, or is still there.

The frustrating part is, that some users seem not to have this issue, and it remains unclear, whether it is a software/OS or a hardware issue or a combination of it.

To the experts here - which log files in Apple Console would you check and what specifically would you look for? (e.g. my new machine is now 11 days old - I have roughly 170 entries in the diagnostics folder, including 6 Panic reports). On a machine in normal condition, would it be the same?

Thanks for your reply,

to be more precise, the panics mainly seem to occur with the use of a backup software - GoodSync. We (developer and me) try to evaluate when it exactly happens - it could be the way network drives are addressed. However, the MB system froze today during a disk utility fist aid check, after the internal data volume was ejected without reason.

Regarding the trackpad issue, it persists regardless of having all equipment attached/connected, or everything off, including bluetooth turned off, or even working in safe mode (to be fair, there it seems to happen less often).

As a standard end user, I just want to be sure, whether my computer is save to work in normal standards, or if I need to worry to lose my work.
