Recovery mode on macbook air m1

My on/off button (or any other buttons including Command+R) are not working during recovery mode and therefore I cannot enter the recovery mode on my M1 air. Any suggestions?

Hi Jsaliba,

Entering macOS Recovery has changed on Apple silicon, including your M1 MacBook Air. To enter macOS Recovery (Recovery Mode), follow these steps.

  1. Shut down your MacBook Air.
  2. Press and hold the power button (Touch ID) until the message "Loading startup options" appears.
  3. When the Startup Options screen appears, choose Options and click Continue.

If your power button (Touch ID) is completely nonfunctional, unfortunately you won't be able to easily get into macOS Recovery. There may be other methods by which you could trip the system into automatically starting up to macOS Recovery.
