Storing Photos and Videos

We have family photos and videos on external drives over 2 TB.

I would like your advice on how I can keep them organized.

I don't create more than 150GB archive files in the Photos app. In addition, when you want to access photos or videos, it takes time to open and close a file continuously. I tried LrC the app does not see some video files. What is the best solution.

How to archive older photos to de-clutter photos library and take up less icloud space I understand that about putting older photos on an external hard drive and deleting them from the photos library in order to de-clutter and use less iCloud space, however, I'd like to be able to archive my older photos in a way that makes them easy to view/ access when I want to. The thing about having photos in the photos library is that it is easy to access them and view them as a slide show and I don't want to have to re-instate photos into my photos library each time I want to view them as a slide show etc. The last time I was faced with this problem, I made a new photos library and created a 'historical photos library' out of the photos I no longer needed immediate access to. However, I don't want to do this again as it is a bit messy and feels precarious. I suppose there may be some software that allows you to store older photos on a hard drive in a way that means you can still play them as a slide show or flick through quickly without having to open each one?? Any ideas are appreciated.

i don't have enough room on my hard drive for all my photos I need to import an iPhoto library not connected to my iCloud account. When I import the photos I will not have enough space to store all the photos on my internal ssd. How can i keep all my photos as previews (small size) without loosing my full size photos?

Photo library is very large, 30,000 photos. Looking for suggestions for external hard drive storage. Is there a "best" way to store photos on an external hard drive while maintaining the functionality of the Photos application? I have approximately 30,000 photos in my Photo library and would like to move them to an external hard drive to conserve memory on my MacBook Air which is approximately 7 yrs old. macOS Monterey 12.6.3 Memory: 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3.

The following screenshot shows how various views isn the Photos library can be sorted:

Smart albums can group all photos with the same date, location or person. Experiment with smart albums. They don't take up additional room as it's all virtual.

You best solution may simply be to create a series of folder on the external drive. Or, look into professional grade photo database software.
