iPod docks for click wheel Ipods

For all my mobile listening I use old school click-wheel iPods, mostly iPod Nano 5th generation but also iPod Classic. (For reasons not relevant to this post, this technology meets my needs very much better than the later iPod touch.) I believe that the connector for iPod Nano 5th generation is described as 30 pin while the iPod touch and other later models used the lightning connector and these are quite different.

For at least two decades, I have used the Sound Traveller docking station for portable listening around the house. Although I attempted to future-proof some time ago by buying a number of these units, in time, they all become unreliable in the same way: the mini-jack socket for power will only function with judicious waggling and eventually it does not work at all.

As far as I can see, nobody now manufactures docking stations that accept old-style iPods. This is hardly surprising since it is very old technology. (Please correct me if I am wrong.) I then wondered whether I could buy a docking station for later iPods and use a converter cable to allow my iPod to connect to this unit but it seems that the cables I can buy are for data transfer only not audio connection so this workaround will not do the trick.

I appreciate that my query may be a bit of a niche requirement but I would be delighted to read any advice that the Apple community can offer.
