Can't disable stealth mode and make my MacBook Pro available for incoming connections.

Tried to share some files from my iPhone via airdrop in very first time, found out that firewall settings had to be changed.

The problem is that in firewall settings windows, settings checkboxes are unselectable. Grey color and any changes can't be done.

Firewall settings not sticking - reverting without user involvement Like other people, I'm being pestered at every login by the "Do you want the application "mediasharingd" to accept incoming network connections?". I spent 45 minutes chatting with Apple Support who took me through changing the Firewall settings to block incoming connections to the mediasharingd process. Now I find that those changes to the Firewall settings do not stick. After a restart, the settings have reverted to they were before. In particular, the setting for mediasharingd is changed back to "Allow incoming connections". Worse, I decided to block ALL incoming connections. That seemed to work. After a restart a couple of days ago, it was still set to block. BUT, I could see that in the greyed out list of processes mediasharingd was again set to "Allow". Today after startup, I again got the pesky mediasharingd popup. I checked the Firewall settings and found "Block all incoming connections" was OFF. I have thought that changes to Firewall settings required admin credentials. So, how can my settings change without any admin (or other) involvement ? I have used Feedback Assistant to send the details to Apple. But, I assume there will be no response. Does anyone understand what's going on ?

Why aren't Firewall settings persistent in Ventura? I'm attempting to do 'stealth' mode firewal. I've noticed that enabling it is possible, but the setting isn't persistent. It turns itself off. I've removed the config file /Library/Preferences/com.apple.alf.plist, and rebooted to no avail. Anyone else have firewall setting issues?

OS Ventura Firewall I do not understand what is happening with the firewall on my machine. It is running OS Ventura 13.2 I set the Firewall according to the settings I want, in this instance to block all connections. When I go back to it, Control Centre, which is embedded in it, and which I cannot remove, changes the settings by itself to allow all incoming connections. No matter how many times I alter it, it always goes back to allow all connections. Even if I alter the settings through terminal, this is the case. Also, if I check the status with terminal it contradicts the graphical firewall settings display ie. Terminal will say the firewall is set to block all connections, but the graphical display says it will allow all connections. This would not bother me so much, I suppose, but Control Centre is set to listen for incoming connections on two ports using complex-main and ASF 3 fileserver. This makes me worry that whether I like it or not, information is able to leave this machine through these ports through a compromised firewall. Perhaps I am worrying too much? Thanks for any help

The application firewall is preventing you from using file sharing services. Turn it off.
