Are you dining this adapter? (it is nothing of a hub): USB-C to USB Adapter - Apple
If your battery is draining then it an issue with a draining battery --not on the adapter. So, read the following...

MacBook Power Drain and Hub:
No. This is not normal. So, di not use a USB-C hub. It likely is extracting power for other use.
Simply stated, if the hub does not have any power source it has to get power from somewhere. so it gets it from the MacBook Air.
