Why can’t you update your apps if you just happened to not have funds in your account at that moment
I think it’s very unfair if you don’t happen to have funds in your account at the moment you can not update an app! Anyway around it?

You need to have a payment method on file, even if the app you want to download is free
Check which payment method you have on file
If you can't make purchases or update apps, including free apps, you need to update your payment method or add a new one.

If you're still unable to update your payment method, Contact Apple Support.
