AppleTV copy/paste not working

Just noticed that COPY/PASTE functionality from iOS to AppleTV stopped working recently. Is it disabled or is there a setting that needs to be changed?

I came across this previously posted AppleTV copy/paste from iPhone no longer … - Apple Community

and am able to paste it in the Text field on iOS. However it does nothing on the AppleTV.

I remember this used to work when I setup my first AppleTV last fall. This was so helpful to copy and paste longer strings from iOS to AppleTV.

Verify that you copy-paste plain text, not formatted with styles, not formatted as link. Not only may it get interpreted wrongly, but it may also exceed the max length of the input field.

To discard formatting on iOS [1]:

Select the text
Don’t tap ‘Copy’ but instead ‘Share…’
Tap ‘Copy’ from the Share sheet

If both your tvOS and iOS are on the latest version it should work. tvOS sometimes doesn’t update automatically. You may have to manually update it if that’s the case.

if you still see the same issue can you list the steps where it’s failing? Good possibility that you kay have stumbled on to something else

This appear to be an iOS 16 bug. It works just fine with iPadOS15.7.

Please help by reporting the bug here.

what happens if you past and then type in a space and then maybe remove it afterwards?

i am trying to copy a string and paste in the Apple TV remote text box that appears on iPhone. It lets me paste it in the text box.

before when I used to hit enter the pasted text would be accepted on Apple TV text box. But not any more.

If I type it in the same text it works. So obviously something wrong with copy and paste

The pasted text never makes it to the Apple TV box.

I can see the typed text and the space appearing in text bar on Apple TV and I also see it being removed when I delete it on the text box on iPhone.

copied text is the one that is a problem

Same here. All is up to date and it does not work. A complete pain in the back side when I also have to continually sign back into Netflix or HBO for example. My passwords are auto generated in keychain and not small !! Time consuming and frustrating. So easy when copy/paste function works. Sort it out Apple. It’s always something…. After YEARS of using Apple Products for the first time I’m thinking of ditching them. All these small things add up and up and everyone is has/is caught/catching you up.

Also we look at these threads and no oft can be bothered to explain… yes we know about this bug or we took that feature away because… seems you just don’t care…
