Syncing Outlook & Gmail calendar to iPhone calendar

I've seen a few articles on this but none work for me - they seem old and outdated - how on earth do I sync my Gmail, Outlook and iPhone calendars and keep them syncing?

There is no iPhone Calendar.

Where is the calendar events stored on your iPhone? Please add the email account, that's it.

When you add events to the Calendar it gets added to the Default Calendar set on your device.
