You cannot use an iPhone 6 or earlier for UPI, nor for any other apps that require iOS 13 or later.

Your sole option is a newer (used, refurb) or new iPhone.

There are no hardware upgrades.

If you want support for the upcoming iOS 16 version, you will specifically want an iPhone 8 or newer.
