Can you get deleted messages from your icloud

go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud and check the switch position for Messages

If the switch is ON, then you cannot recover your deleted messages and they are not contained in an iPhone backup

If the switch is OFF, then you might be able to recover your messages IF you have an iPhone backup that contains the messages you are trying to recover. In which case you'd need to restore your iPhone to that backup. In doing so, you'd likely lose some data between now and whenever your backup occurred.

Yes, if the messages were backed up to iCloud......AND......there have been no other backups since the time that the messages were deleted. Post back for more details on whether the messages really were backed up to iCloud.

For example.....the messages were backed up to iCloud on Sept 1. You deleted the messages on Sept 2. The iPhone backed up later on Sept 2. Since you deleted the messages earlier on Sept 2, the next backup would have picked up that action so the messages were also deleted from the backup.

Now, in the example above if you deleted the messages on Sept 2........AND......you disabled backups immediately.......then......the messages would still be in the backup and you could erase the data on the iPhone and then use the backup to restore back to the iPhone. You would lose any data that you have added to the phone since the time of the backup when you restore.

So the big question.......assuming that you are backing up your iPhone using iCloud.........when were the messages deleted from the iPhone?

Bottom line for most users........do not delete a message unless you are sure that you will never need it again.
