The error message 404 Generic Error appears when i am trying to log in to the HSBC internet banking app

Can anyone suggest what I can do about this, is this something I can fix myself or should I take it to someone who can? This error appears to have co-incided with the latest software update!

What happens when you check their website URL?



Check if this helps:

Clear the history and cookies from Safari on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Change the date and time on iPhone

Browsing through https

Do you get that error message 404 when you click -> https://internationalservices.hsbc.com

This is the standard message you may see when you visit a page or file that is missing. It is called an HTTP 404 Error because 404 is the HTTP status code the page should return to tell browsers or search engines that the requested URL refers to a web page or file that does not exist.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply to my problem! I have forwarded your comment to HSBC and hope that they will be able to resolve this problem. I use this particular app every day and it is a nuisance being without it.

Just to ask further, are you saying that the problem is with their App and not an Apple problem. When I gave the error message to one of the HSBC internet team, she told me that the 404 Generic Error wasn't one of their error messages! Really don't know where to go from here if they cannot resolve this.
