iPhone trade in for 14

hello, I’m wondering how can I trade in my iPhone 13 to 14, and want to use that money to buy iphone14. Do I take my 13 to the store and trade in and pay the rest of cost? Or I buy the iphone 14 first then trade in and get my 13 money refund?
