Carrier does not support esim

I live in Barbados and I will be visiting the US and wanted to purchase the 14 Pro Max in December. None of the carriers in my country carry esim, will the unlocked versions have a sim try that I can purchase from Apple Downtown Brooklyn?

The specs say that its is not compatible with a physical SIM. iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus - Technical Specifications - Apple
