Hi rcv3

Welcome to the Apple Community.

Sorry I don't know the size in mm for a size 9 band ... wondering if the band is an Apple one .

(Perhaps you could lay the band out flat and measure it carefully to get a precise mm.)

Hoping the information below on current sizes may be helpful.

Online: Buy Apple Watch Bands - Apple

with some styles:

S/M band fits 130mm to 180mm wrists

M/L band fits 145mm to 220mm wrists

Eg: For Green Alpine: 49mm Green Alpine Loop - Small - Apple

says:

"The Trail Loop, Alpine Loop, and Ocean Band are designed for Apple Watch Ultra

and pair best with the 49mm case size. The bands are also compatible with 44mm and 45mm cases".

Small fits 130 to 160 mm wrists

Medium fits 145 to 190 mm wrists

Large. fits. 165 to 210 mm wrists

says:

"Make sure that you use a band that corresponds to your Apple Watch case size.

You can use a band that's designed for Apple Watch (1st generation) and Apple Watch Series 1, 2, and 3 with Apple Watch Series 4 and later and Apple Watch SE as long as the sizes are compatible:

✽. Bands for 38mm, 40mm, and 41mm cases are compatible with cases of all three of those sizes.

✽. Bands for 42mm, 44mm, and 45mm cases are compatible with cases of all three of those sizes."

says:

"Fasten a band

For optimal performance, your Apple Watch should fit closely on your wrist.

For best results, the back of your Apple Watch needs skin contact for features like wrist detection, haptic notifications, and the heart rate sensor.

Wearing your Apple Watch with the right fit—not too tight, not too loose, and with room for your skin to breathe—keeps you comfortable and lets the sensors do their job. In addition, the sensors work only when you wear your Apple Watch on the top of your wrist."

All the best :-)
