How do I copy a music file from a Mac to my Music library on the iPhone?

I am trying to copy an audio file from my macbook pro to an iphone. All looks good however the audio file does not appear on the iphone.

Is it just me or is it a bad GUI design?

Thanks @picas. as a music producer I often want to just drag-n-drop my latest mix onto my iphone and listen to it on the go. I thought... how hard can it be... :D (ik I can sync all library but that is simply not what I was trying to do)

Anyways... I got confused by Finder which seemed to allow such a simple drag-n-trop (screenshot below)

But today I checked again and it seems that there was either a patch in the latest OS update or a reboot of the mac helped and Finder indicates the drag-n-drop to the iphone is not possible.

If you have an Apple Music account and have sync'd your Macbook library to the cloud, then dragging a song into the Music app should automatically add it to your phone as well. If not, go to Music on your Macbook > File > Library > Update Cloud Library. That should sync the two libraries together. i.e. music added via your phone will download to your Macbook, and anything on the Macbook not on your phone will upload to it.

That's pretty much it in a nutshell. It kind of works OK, but if you have a big local library, syncing that to the cloud is buggy as ****, so back up your library before going anywhere near the sync options!
