ok so, i need to transfer whatsapp from android to iPhone but i have already setup my iPhone and am using it for 2 weeks now. so… if i take a backup of my iPhone to my PC using iTunes then reset my iPhone to be able to transfer the whatsapp data then if I use the iTunes to restore the previous backup will it format the device again? is there no way to keep my previous data and transfer whatsapp?

No doesn't work that way. You choose whether you want the current data on your phone or start over and transfer data from your android.
