I use two primary email accounts (AOL and gmail) and consolidate them for access both in Google Mail and also in Apple Mail.  I would like to move the 6 years worth that show up in the inbox count for Apple Mail either:

  1. into a folder on my Mac (to unburden the Apple Mail app on my iPhone and iPad)
  2. or into the trash UNLESS that will also delete the emails from my Google Mail app

If I’ve explained that at all coherently, can you advise?

Many thanks, Barbara

Move mail to a new mailbox/folder —> to "On my Mac" named something like 'old-inbox' or some such...

This will free up the email on the server and relocate the selected items locally to your mac's harddrive, by dragging and dropping your selection.
