iPhone Calendar Search Does Not Work on iPhone 8

On my iPhone 8 I am not able to search for a past or future event in the iCal. I have used it in the past and it no longer works. I followed all directions on how to open the calendar, select the search icon and type in the event I am looking for. As soon as I start typing it returns No Events. Upon selecting the Search button I still get No Events. Does Search in iCalendar no longer work on iPhone 8? I am on version 15.6.1
