icloud. Mail takes storage

Hello.

ICloud storage shows that Mail take 6Gb. I deleted all the emails from all folders. But it takes 6 GB still. How can I free that space?

Thank you for. the screenshot.

Leave Family Sharing:

It is a bit strange, having seen the screenshots. So, leave Family Sharing, seeing if that makes all the difference. Note that person who set up Family Sharing can remove you from. So, request that they do so, if not you.

No Success?

Contact Apple support:

If you cannot get this to be rid of, then contact Apple Support, seeing if they can erase it for you, without closing your account.

Apple Contact Info:

  • Contact Us - Choose Locations
  • Proceed from there, as necessary
  • Why the Wait: Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through

Restore your iPhone or Reset it:

If you are so concerned, then restore from a backup or reset your iPhone to factory settings.

Important: Back Up First: Be sure create a back up your iPhone prior to performing an update, that way you have something to restore your iPhone from, should anything go wrong afterwards.

A. Restore from a Backup:

Did your ever back up your iPhone prior to all of this? If so, you could restore your iPhone from the backup.

or...

B. Reset to Factory Settings:

Set this iPhone up anew, as if you were to sell it. You’d first back up your iPhone, and then perform as instructed at this link including the iCloud sign out: What to do Before you Sell, Give Away, or Trade in your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

“This has nothing to do with iPhone. I’m talking about iCloud.com. It shows the Mail takes 6.2 gb. At the same time iCloud.com/mail shows there is no single email in any folder.”

Try Emptying iCloud:

If it is showing this way on your iPhone and all other devices…

Download All of iCloud:

One though would be to download all of iCloud, and then search through it in Finder on a Mac. You would download it to an external drive, and then open the drive in Finder. Search through it using the search bar on the top-right corner of the Finder window. Once downloaded, trash what is in there. Use my user tip: Getting a Quick and Direct "iCloud Drive-to-External Hard Drive" Download - User Tip

See if goes down to zero once downloaded, and then trashed. Once zeroed out, restore all of iCloud through drag-&-drop on a computer.

2 problems with your solution:

  1. Download icon is not active unless a folder is selected.

2 . This method downloads the content of iCloud Drive. Mail does not store its content in there. So it won't be visible if I download iCloud Drive.

Here is what I see here: https://www.icloud.com/settings/ . That blue piece takes 6.21 GB.

And this is what I see here: https://www.icloud.com/mail/

I can make all the screenshots, but all the folders show the same text "No Mail".

View your iCloud+ Plan:

What happens when you view your iCloud Plan? Does it show any subscriptions?: iCloud+ Plans and Pricing - Apple Support. If no subscription is shown, then I’d say all is fine. It’s just a glitch in Apple’s system.

All folders are empty. Mail on IPhone shows them empty. Mail on iMac shows them empty and iCloud.com/mail shows them empty. But iCloud settings shows Mail takes 6.21 GB.

I also used imapsync program to check the sizes of the folder - they all show 0.

This is paid 200 GB subscription and I don't want to pay for the storage that I do not use...
