I'm exporting images from Photos to my desktop, but for some reason it's now showing me the item count in small blue text under my folders. Pretty sure this was not there before...
Is there any way to remove this?

Show the View Options (cmd-j).
Uncheck "Show item info."

FWIW, that's normal and only shows in the "Export" window. It's a feature.

Would be good if it could be hidden...
You're welcome. It's there so when someone is exporting images, they may not want to export them to a folder that already has many images. This way you can tell at a glance.
