Permissions

I'm the Admin on my Mac, my wife also has a user account on it. Her user account on my Mac is tied into iCloud and she has a laptop that is also tied into that account with Desktop and Documentsharing turned on on both machines.

I want to be able to drop files into her /users/Desktop folder on my Mac and have them upload to iCloud and download to her laptop but when I drop the files into her folder they have my permissions and got locked and don't transfer. Is there an easy way around this without having to change my permissions on the files every time (which I tend to forget to do?)

Thanks!

Have you tried adding your wife to the permissions section of the Info pane for the file as read and write and then add it to her desktop?

You could add the appropriate ACL to her Desktop folder, but you'd be on your own. I don't imagine it is a good idea, so I'm not going to test it out.

The Drop Box is the proper place to move files into another account, but that isn't sync'd to iCloud. It's in the Public folder.

You could create an Automator Folder Action that would move anything dropped into the Drop Box into the Desktop folder.
