zoom video not working

video camera not working. Why?

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Sounds like you're unable to properly use your built-in camera on your iMac. If so, we'd like to recommend some steps you can try to help sort this issue out. We did notice that you're coming from the following resource here: If your built-in camera isn’t working on your Mac - Apple Support


This might be the best resource to review for your specific issue. Make sure you follow all the steps listed within:


1.) Check Screen Time settings: Use Screen Time on your Mac - Apple Support
2.) Give apps permission:
-Choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Security & Privacy.
-Click the Privacy tab, then click Camera in the sidebar.
-Select the checkbox next to the apps that you want to use your camera in. You might be prompted to quit and reopen an app before it can use your camera.
3.) Try another app
4.) If you're using an Intel-based Mac, try resetting your SMC: Reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support

Other possible steps you might want to consider trying:


1.) Test in safe mode: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

2.)Update your macOS: Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support
