Using US plug for charging doesn’t work

I have an iPad 4, it was bought with a EU plug. I lost the plug and had to buy a US plug as it is the only one I could buy here (I’m in Thailand). The plug doesn’t charge the iPad! It charges other devices but not the tablet. Is this a problem of the iPad? Can it be fixed in the settings somehow?
