I’m trying to update ios
iPhone 12 Pro Max, iOS 15
If you have a compatible device (iPhone 8 or higher) try and reboot your phone to see if it will appear then
If not, try to update via a pc or Mac instead
Update your iPhone using a Mac with macOS Catalina or higher
On a Mac with macOS Catalina or higher, you will use the finder in order to upgrade your iPhone. Make sure to Back up your device before starting the upgrade process.
On a Mac with macOS Catalina or later, you will follow the following steps:
Update your iPhone via a Mac running macOS Mojave or earlier, or on a Windows PC
On macOS Mojave or earlier, or on a windows machine, we won't use the Finder to upgrade your iOS
Instead, we will use iTunes. Make sure to Back up your device before doing any update or upgrade to your phone.
What model is your phone, is it really an iPhone 12 as your specs show?
What do you see on your screen when you attempt to update your iPhone 12 Pro Max to iOS 16?
Were you using iOS 15 Beta version at any point? If YES, then delete the beta profile and then trying updating again.

Make sure that your iPhone is setup to meet the following requirements before you attempt to update the iOS version over a Wi-Fi Network.
