Hi, I successfully updated my 5th generation iPad mini to iOS 15.7 today, but don’t see an option to update to iOS 16. It’s on the compatible list. Any ideas why?

Unlike iOS16 for iPhone, released yesterday, iPadOS16 is not due for release until sometime in October.
However, iPadOS 15.7 was also released yesterday - incorporating essential security updates.
About the security content of iOS 15.7 and iPadOS 15.7 - Apple Support
While iOS16 is available for iPhone, iPhone owners have the option to just install iOS15.7 at this time.

As mentioned during the recent September Apple Event (https://youtu.be/ux6zXguiqxM), iPadOS 16 is scheduled for release in the month of October 2022. However, if you are a registered developer -- or public beta tester -- you can gain early access to iPadOS 16.
