MacBook and iPhone mail not syncing up

I have these two devices - MacBook Pro 13-inch, 2020 and an iPhone 12 Pro Max.

I am using a Gmail account for work that is enrolled on both devices. The problem is that when I send emails on one device, the other device doesn't seem to have it. Ill send an email to Person A on iPhone and when I log into my MacBook, the email that I sent isn't there.

When I receive an email, only one device has them - usually the MacBook.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.5

Troubleshooting gmail:

On all of your devices: Remove the account. Once removed, add it back. Perhaps it all needs to resync?
