I created a few text groups that worked fine prior to my iOS 16 update. The group does not appear on the "to" line when I type the group's name. The group name shows in my received texts, but the shortcut is not working when I want to send a fresh text. Pls note that I already did a network settings reset to the default, but there was no change. In addition, the Group Messaging toggle is enabled in my settings. Is there a solution?

Under Settings --> Messages --> Siri & Search --> Turn on all the options and reboot. That is not an official fix but it might help (it did for me on another device).
Otherwise, give Apple a call. I did today and they said 16.0.2 would resolve the issue, which it did.

You need to enable the “Show content in search” specifically. The group name is “content” of the messages app. - Tony the tech mentioned it down below. It worked for me

Hence, I had to go to step 16 to make it work, but I warn you that I lost a small handful of setups. Luckily, I lost no data. Good luck!
Is your Group Messaging toggle activated? It can be found in Settings, Messages, and then it should show: Group Messaging (green toggle)
I am having the same problem. I was reading a news article last night and when I tried to send it to the group text it wasn’t showing up. Before iOS 16 I could normally just type in one of the members names from the group text and the group would show up but now it no longer does that.
It won’t let me send any messages in group chats. It says, message failed to send and not delivered.
Someone please help!
Also having this issue post upgrade to 16. I have tried deleting the groups, leaving and rejoining, all to no avail. Tried toggling MMS and Group Messaging and nothing either.
I have the same issue. Searching for groups returns no results when sending a new message. And when typing in the name of one member of a group, iOS doesn’t return the group as a result.
Yes, it’s not that you cannot have a group chat, you can’t send a new chat by clicking the new message button and thought the name, nor can you share a link and send to a named chat.

16.3 did not fix it for me either. Frustrating. Have a new iPhone 14 too. Come on Apple. Do better
