Turn down/off the volume on one of the devices. Echos are caused by too many speakers/microphones too close. So experiement to mute your ipad or turn the volume down on it but up on the TV, or use ear buds on the ipad.

Echo suppression will only work effectively when using the iPad’s internal speakers. When using loudspeakers for audio, echo suppression requires knowledge of the distance between microphone and speakers - this property being known for the iPad.
