ios update iphone 12

in the "software update" settings item it tells me ios 15.7, ios is updated and, the item update to ios16 does not appear. Also with mac I tried to update but tells me: iphone is the latest version of ios.I have iphone12. How do I get it? I have a lot of free space, I have also done the backup.
