Hi DaleMicheal,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today.

There are three different ways you can transfer data from your present iPhone to a new iPhone as outlined here: Transfer data from your previous iOS or iPadOS device to your new iPhone or iPad

  1. Quick Start
  2. iCloud
  3. iTunes or Finder

All three methods should return your mail and photos.

If you use iCloud Photos your photos won't be in a backup, but should return when iCloud Photos switch is engaged in Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud. You would need to use the same Apple ID you used previously. Here is an article with more info on using iCloud Photos: Set up and use iCloud Photos.

If you only set up your iPhone as a new device and didn't restore your backup (which also brings over all previous settings), make sure you are signed into your same Apple ID and follow the above instructions for switching on iCloud Photos.

For the Mail app, you'd need to add your provider's account following these steps: Add an email account to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

"How to set up your email account automatically

If you use an email provider like iCloud, Google, or Yahoo, Mail can automatically set up your email account with just your email address and password. Here's how:

  1. Go to Settings > Mail, then tap Accounts.
  2. Tap Add Account, then select your email provider.
  3. Enter your email address and password.
  4. If you see Next, tap Next and wait for Mail to verify your account.
  5. If you see Save, tap Save.

If you don't see your email provider, tap Other to add your account manually."

Have a fantastic day!
