How to do so...

A. Verify Compatibility:

Identify your iPhone model. The first thing that comes to mind in incompatibility being the culprit. So, confirm the model of your iPhone. If iPhone model is incompatible with iOS 16, then it is because you iPhone does not meet the hardware requirements for this iOS version(s).

B. If Compatible...

1. Back Up First:

IMPORTANT: If you have an option to update, however, then be certain you backup your iPhone first. That way, you will have something to restore your iPhone from should anything go wrong with the update

Battery needs to be charged to at least 50%. Better to start with a full charge of 100%

Turn off Low Power Mode on the Battery if it is on

Do not use Cellular Data unless you have a 5G signal....(which the phone cannot support)

Use Wi-Fi with a good strong Internet connection

Minimize use of other Wi-Fi devices during the update

If you ever installed any beta software, make sure that the profile has been deleted

If all else fails, you will likely need to run the update using a Mac or PC
