Event removal from shared calendar

My spouse and I share a family calendar. This morning, I was alarmed to hear that she had gotten a large number of notifications (more than 70, but less than 100) about me having deleted events from the family calendar. She got them on both her phone and MacBook.

I think these were all old events -- I looked at a couple and they were. But it was still very worrying, especially since I didn't get any notifications, so I don't know exactly what was removed, nor do I know why.

Questions:

Is there some sort of garbage-collection in iCloud that would lead to this kind of wholesale removal of events?

Is there some log or something I could look out to reassure myself that nothing important was lost?

(I'm on Monterey, btw)

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

Since it was your account that initiated the deletion then you wouldn't get a notification. These were most likely expired events.

You can restore your previous events using these steps:

If you don’t have shared calendars, go to the next step. If you do have shared calendars, write down which ones you’re sharing, who you invited to share each one, and whether each participant can view and edit or only view. Also note which calendars other people are sharing with you.
On iCloud.com, go to Account Settings, then click Restore Calendars in the Advanced section (or Restore Calendars and Reminders if you’re not using upgraded reminders).Available versions are listed by the date and time they were archived.
To the right of the version you want to restore, click Restore.There may be more versions than can be displayed. Scroll to see them all. Note: Wait until iCloud finishes restoring your calendars before you change them. During the restore process, any changes you make aren’t saved.
If you had shared calendars, reshare them and ask other people to reinvite you to share their calendars and reminder lists. See Share a calendar on iCloud.com."
