Shared iCloud link not showing up

2 weeks ago I shared a photo album with a friend in iMessage.

I cannot see this shared album in "Shared Albums > Activity" in my Photos app on my iMac.

I can only see it in the links section in the chat itself on the iPhone.

Shouldn't it be there?? Am I missing something?

Any help much appreciated, thank you.

iPhone X, iOS 15

Howdy Abstractman23,

Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

Let's check to see if this is a shared album, or an iCloud Link with multiple photos included as these would be two different things. A shared album is a created album that is shared with another user, whereas the iCloud link could have sent multiple photos easier than sending each individual photo. For more details on shared albums on your Mac, check out this resource: What are shared albums in Photos on Mac? - Apple Support

With Shared Albums, you can create albums of photos and videos and easily invite others to view them. The people you invite can view your album from any Mac, PC, iPhone, or iPad. If they use iCloud, they can like your photos, add comments—and, if you’ve allowed it, even add their own photos and video clips to the album. (If your invitees don’t use iCloud, they can still see your shared photos and videos if you set up a public website.)

On your iPhone, open the Photos app, then tap Albums at the bottom. From here, locate the Shared Album section to see which albums are shown and compare with your Mac. For more information with shared albums on your iPhone, review this resource: How to share albums in Photos on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac - Apple Support

Let us know if you find the album on your iPhone in the Shared Album section. If so, compare with your Mac and let us know if other albums are missing or just this one.

Have a great day!

Hi Abstractman23,

Thanks for checking.

When you message your friend, are you seeing blue or green bubbles? If green, then they are not using an iPhone or other Apple device.

To share an album, other than dropping photos or videos separately, then you would be using an iCloud link. Is that why you mentioned "not shared iCloud links"?

Did you follow the steps on this page to share?

Share photos and videos with an iCloud Link on iCloud.com - Apple Support

Share photos and videos with an iCloud Link
1. In Photos on iCloud.com, select the photos or videos you want to share.
2. Click the Share button, then do one of the following:
• Choose Email, then click Open Mail. A new email window opens with a link to your photo collection.
• Choose Copy Link, then click Copy Link. Share the link with friends. For example, you can paste it into a Messages conversation.

The link will expire after 30 days, or you can stop sharing:

Stop sharing an iCloud Link
iCloud Links automatically expire after 30 days, but you can stop sharing them sooner.
1. In Photos on iCloud.com, click iCloud Links in the sidebar.
2. Click the photo collection you want to stop sharing.
3. Click the More button, choose Stop Sharing, then click Stop Sharing.

The above steps show that you can find that link on iCloud.com, not in the Photos app on your devices.

Take care!
