Lost emails

Help please

I have had my iPhone since April and all has been well but suddenly my emails have started disappearing from my phone and even worse they are also disappearing from my laptop. The only reason I bought an iPhone was so that I could see my emails on the go and now I have had to disable the email so that I ensure that I don't lose my emails. Has anyone else had this problem and do you know how to resolve it. I feel like I have wasted my money on something that is now no use to me.

Who is your email provider, and how have you got your email setup on your iPhone and PC - IMAP or POP3?

I am getting the same problem - using donhost (in the UK) and collecting with pop on PC & iPhone

Set your email up as IMAP not POP3.

IMAP is the protocol designed for accessing email from multiple devices.

My provider is 02 and my email is Yahoo. I don't know how to change my email Imap as I can't even see the POP feature. When I set up my phone initially it showed my host server etc but since deleting it and setting it up again I can no longer see this part on my settings.

When you recreated the account on your iPhone, did you use the Yahoo account preset, or did you select Other?

If you did the former, this created the account as an IMAP account on your iPhone.

You can access a Yahoo account as a POP account only with an email client on your computer. If you are accessing the account with an email client on your computer such as with Outlook or with Windows Mail, what is the account setting with the email client used on your computer for removing messages from the server when downloaded by the email client?

Yes, I have recently lost all my emails from my iphone. I had just updated the software - coincidence? They've also gone from my Mobile me online account. Finally I logged onto my Macbook Pro, saw all my emails there back to 2008, opened one up and they all deleted before my eyes. I am trying to find a solution but have had no luck so far. Keep trying.

Hi Allan

Thank you for your help. I deleted my email account and set it back up as other and it seems to have cured the problem. I sent a test email on Friday night and it is still there at the moment.

I have the same problem. All Email disappears. All email is deleted from server. Using imap, and all messages are gone forever.

This has happened twice. Do not know how. First time thought it had to do with the email server. Changed email server. A few weeks later, all email disappeared the second time. Anyone else with this problem.

Did your same procedure,

I thought it worked, for a split second there, "load xx more messages" appeared. But disappeared instantly!

Can I assume that the old emails are still there?
