Hi so recently i wanted to upgrade to ios 16 yet my software update is still saying ios 15.7 to upgrade to ive checked in my about setting and im on an ipad 5th generation and if i remember correctly i think that did support ios 16.

IPadOS 16 is not being released until October. You have to wait until then to update. And your iPad is eligible for the update.

Oh thanks its just i thought i saw somewhere it was released on the 12th of september
iOS and iPadOS are two different softwares. While iOS (the iPhone's operating system) has been released. iPadOS (for iPad) isn't slated to release until later.
