iPhone 14 - Travel Abroad

My new iPhone 14 Pro is being delivered tomorrow. Was looking forward to immediately setting it up (I'm buying it unlocked, but will be using it to replace my existing phone on the AT&T network).

My issue is, on Saturday afternoon, I'm heading to Germany for a few days (Oktoberfest!) I was looking forward to using the new iPhone to take great pictures, but my daughter just told me she heard the iPhone 14 is going to be hard to travel with due to the eSim feature. As I said, excited to use my new phone, but don't want to be stuck abroad with a bricked iPhone. Is this truly an issue?

See the following from Apple: Use eSIM while traveling abroad with your iPhone - Apple Support

You should be OK if the carrier that you want to use in Germany supports eSim.

Unfortunately, if the carrier that you want to use requires the use of a physical SIM card, the U.S. version of the iPhone is not going to work......since it does not have a SIM card slot.

At this time, the information that I have indicates that Telekom and Vodafone support eSim.

You might want to check with one of these carriers for more details.
