Hi
Every time I start up my Mac these apps start up automatically: mail, whatsaap, iMessage.
I have 0 items in user groups/login items and have never selected these apps to open at startup.
I have also tried closing them before turning off my Mac and they still re open the next time I startup
Does anyone have any ideas?

Make sure you're quitting the apps (command Q or from the app's menu) and not just closing the app's window using the red close window button.

FWIW, that dialog window, along with the restart dialog window, only applies to apps that are currently open.
