Does Preview stores its history somewhere?

I had a lot of files opened in Preview since a while and I wanted to sort them, but I quit the app by mistake. Some of these files were left open as reminders, so I would like to find again which files where previously opened. But there were many of them and Preview only shows me a limited list (I have now increased that number in preferences). Is there a file that stores the history of Preview?

I found this file com.apple.Preview.LSSharedFileList.plist in Terminal. I don't know if it's useful for my purpose, but in any case I also don't know how to read it in Terminal. In Finder this file is hidden and I don't know how to make it visible.

Thanks

Hi maria-cristina177,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having an issue with viewing your recently closed Preview app. We'd like to help.

From what we've found, there is not an easy option within the app to recover your recently opened list. If you currently had it set to 5, changing that in System Preferences will not back track for you but would allow you to view more in the future.

Hopefully, going forward, you'll be able to gather them back at a later date more easily.

Take care!
