How to get face ID to open to home screen -iPhone 13 / iOS16

Thanks for the suggestion. I guess I wasn't clear in my inquiry. It seems that once the lock screen recognized my face it should open to the home page, not requiring another gesture (swiping up) to then get to the home screen. Actually, the first 2x I unlocked my phone using the face ID I had just set up, it actually did go directly to my home screen on its own. Now it won't, but that experience gave my the idea that it is (and should be) possible.
