Only after upgrade to ios16 ,my Face ID stop working
Hi, after consultant to apple service store, they suggest me to replace the faceid camera and related components which cost $200+. for 4 years old iPhone XS, I still believe the Face ID camera broken because the updates to IOS 16. not it physically broken or what. I wish Apple should release a statement of this if there are many iPhone XS's Face ID not working after IOS updates.

There are millions of iPhone users whose FaceID was not disabled by iOS updates, so the issue is that your FaceID hardware had failed in a way that was not noted until the software update was installed.
Yes you are right, since the update my iphone xs also have stopped face id .. i thought it hardware problem. But i put the phone on update just before bed and then in the morning it was not working.. apple should own this mistake and do something about…
W hear a friend say here that millions of phone don’t have an issue with updates, that is not correct to say! Meanwhile, I still believe it is not reasonable to detected the hard wear problem of Face ID, only after iOS updated. Especially. It worked fine before update! So I am waiting for a better answer!

You may not like the answers, but both are true.
Tens of millions of people have had no issue whatsoever with iOS updates, and software does not break hardware but changes may reveal already broken hardware.
I can go into detail on either/both if you like, but I realize it doesn't help any when you now have to deal with the issue.
I really want to accept your kindly explanation and tend to believe it so! And you are probably right! But one thing can not convince me is I believe my Face ID will works fine if not to update to IOS15, in another words, a hard wear issue should be detected if it works or not NOT by different software? Anyone with me?
It all depends on the way the hardware is accessed and software can very easily reveal previously undetected issues in hardware.
Yesterday my phone got restarted itself and face id started worked for the whole day. But the next morning it stoped working again … 🤔
