No. Not in full.
Choose the Drive for the Destination:
I see you want to back up the entire iPhone to a Hard Drive. Note that the entire iPhone is not backed up, though you could back up files from it, and choose where to store them (on the external hard drive), through use of Finder. In the long run, I'd say back up to iCloud, being it is much safer to do so. Getting an iCloud+ Plan is a must for this: iCloud+ Plans and Pricing - Apple Support
