I need help changing my name on my phone before setting up a new phone?
iPhone 12, iOS 14
I just tested on my phone quick.. if you change the name in Settings > General > About > Name.. it doesn't necessarily 'take' in that device list right away.
For me, I just did a force restart and then the change showed up

Not that’s the name of your phone, not your name. Go to Settings/General/About and you can edit the name of the phone. You can be creative; for example, my phone’s name is “Don’t Panic"
No I let someone borrow an old phone of mine a while back and they changed it to Katy’s iPhone, so everytime I set up a phone it sets under Katy’s iPhone.
if you need to change the name associated with your Apple ID, go to appleid.apple.com, sign in, select 'personal information', 'name' and then edit it

no.. if that's all you need to change, you can do that after you set up your phone.
That would be located in Settings > General > About > Name
Actually, you can change that directly on the phone. Tap on Settings > General > About > Name
It changed to my name but the phone is set to Katy’s iphone
so for clarification.. You are NOT Katy?
Where exactly do you see Katy's iPhone shown?
Did you purchase a used phone from someone?
It’s still saying Katy’s iPhone in the spot when I sent the picture
