Equalizer does not work.

"I've posted previously with no answers forthcoming. I've seen all manner of workarounds from setting universal EQ settings or setting songs individually, but I simply cannot get it to work on my 2019 16" MacBook pro running latest OS 12.0.1. This has been manifest since I purchased the machine, through countless software updates and new OS versions. I cannot get it to work at all ever under any circumstances. I looked to see if somehow I could re-install Music but that seems not possible best I can see. Any ideas out there?"


i'm using macbook pro 14" 2021, macOS Monterey 12.6

Any updates in this matter?

We would like to see how we can help you with your Music equalizer. Are you unable to open the Equalizer? Are the options grayed out? Can you give us some more details about the issue? Are you following the steps in this when using it: Adjust the sound quality in Music on Mac - Apple Support


"Use the Music equalizer

  1. In the Music app  on your Mac, choose Window > Equalizer.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Choose a preset option from the pop-up menu.
    • Drag the frequency sliders (also knowns as faders) up or down to increase or decrease the volume of a frequency (in decibels).
  1. The equalizer’s settings apply to all songs until you change the settings, except for songs that have equalizer presets assigned to them.
  2. Select On to turn on the equalizer."

thank you for your reply.

i'm playing around with iTunes and now 'music' since 2008. i loved iTunes. it just worked! playlist, tags, you name it. since the change to 'music' there are some troubles around, eg. equalizer.

when i set the EQ in the option field for an individual track it should ajust the settings when the track is played and all fields are ticked in the EQ. but music doesn't do that. no settings are changed.

i play the music from my macbook pro macOS 12.6 via bluetooth or usb cable to a Vincent DAC-1MK D/A converter.


any help in the matter is appreciated.
