Why does iCloud not backup ESIM data? You just released phones that only use ESIM.
This puts users in a catch 22. I can't get into my carrier account or get a new ESIM without getting a text message from them. I can't get the text message because my phone can't connect to their network. Why? Because for whatever reason Apple decided backing up an ESIM wasn't important.
This needs to be addressed ASAP.

eSIM transfer options vary by carrier.
Here are some of the options to setup via eSIM:
A great option to transfer service between two devices is to use Quick Transfer if your carrier supports that.
Otherwise, the fact that your carrier requires a text message is decided by the carrier. Please contact your carrier for guidance on how they expect you to activate your device.

Because an eSIM contains no data to backup. It simply has the configuration information from your carrier.
You would need to get the cell service providers to agree to backing up to iCloud. I can tell you what they will say: NO. What service provided do you have?
Sounds like there is data to back up then. Save the config file to iCloud so people can get back on their networks in the event of a reinstall.
